Full notes
Map 2D, rebuilt
- Costmaps, laser scan, the robot footprint and the local plan draw as layers, in the order you choose.
- Long-press the map to place a navigation goal, drag to set the direction the robot should face, and release to send it. Releasing without a drag sends the goal as before. A Cancel goal chip cancels it with one tap, and E-Stop cancels it too.
- Smooth pan, rotate and follow: one-finger pan tracks your finger instead of jumping.
- The robot is placed from TF, with the pose topic as a fallback.
- Large maps load in steps, so the joysticks keep responding while the map sharpens.
- In HUD mode, while you hold a joystick laid over the map, the map ignores other touches, so it cannot place a goal by accident.
Also new
- Joint Sliders: Auto-detect fills joint limits from the robot description (topic or service) and never sends a joint name twice.
- Camera: a frozen feed shows it. The timer counts up and turns amber, then red, the rate disappears, and the picture says "No new frames".
- Topic pickers ask the robot about one topic at a time, when the picker opens, so rosapi no longer falls over on a large graph.
- Parameter Editor: a refused set keeps its reason on screen, and set and fetch errors are shown apart.
- Publish Log describes itself in the widget picker, and a Map 2D goal placed while disconnected shows there as not sent.
Safety
- Once you tap E-Stop, the app sends nothing more to the robot, even if a finger is still on a joystick. E-Stop stops what the app sends; your robot's hardware E-stop is still the one that stops the robot.
Android: Pro settings now survive a relaunch (iOS got this in 1.2.4).
